Good, reliable tuna from a tin makes a surprisingly delicious partner for spicy foods. Its hearty flavour is particularly compatible with fresh chillies and tomatoes in this salad from Tunisia. The addition of green beans, potatoes, olives and hard-boiled eggs makes this a spicy version of the French salade Niçoise. Serve Salata Meshwiya as a luncheon dish on a sultry summer day, or in smaller portions as a first course followed by a Tunisian fish couscous, or a selection of seafood.
