PETER: By the time my parents immigrated to the US, House of Nanking was up and running and had afforded me financial stability. There was nothing more gratifying than driving my parents to my house upon their arrival, then showing them what I was able to build after leaving China more than ten years prior.
The origins of this humble dish are connected to our Ningbo heritage; it’s meant to accompany rice or congee and help people fill up when they can’t afford meat.
