Steamed rice is the best partner for this dish, a lovely mix of Indian and Chinese styles of cooking. You can replace the paneer with tofu, but if you do, skip steps 1 and 2. If you want to serve this as a starter, decrease the amount of stock so that there is no extra sauce.
