Obviously the quantities are variable, but the amounts given will be enough for about 6 people. It’s not necessary to finish it all at one sitting. Traditionally in Wales cawl was always eaten over a couple of days: the broth and vegetables on the first day, the meat the next; both with a great deal of bread and butter. Now people eat it all together, but it is still important to have lots of bread and butter.
