This cake is the quintessential teatime treat. It is slightly dense and extremely moist. When I make this at home, I like to make it gluten-free by subbing our gluten-free flour mix for the all-purpose and pastry flours. Gluten-free or not, it’s imperative to use the lemon kumquat glaze—otherwise it doesn’t have the punch that every lemon lover needs.
