This is the drink for somebody who likes to feel a warm inner glow after being out of doors on a wet and windy day. Sumatrans call this kopi jahe, though there is no coffee in it; the Javanese call it bandrek. I remember drinking piping-hot kopi jahe at a warung in North Sumatra. It was made with very little sugar, which is how I like it.
