A friend of mine from Lombok tells me that Pelecing is just a simple way of cooking vegetables or chicken, but that if you ask for Pelecing by itself you will invariably find that it is made with kangkung (water spinach or swamp cabbage). If you want some other kind of vegetable you will have to name it—for example, Pelecing Peria. (A peria is a kind of rather bitter cucumber: and the drawing below.) Chicken cooked this way is of course Pelecing
