This childhood favorite of mine is almost like a stroganoff but minus the cream. The Asian flavors are livened up with a little brandy although cognac, sherry or Chinese cooking wine work well too. My mom occasionally added a surprise to the dish: chicken livers. I didn’t appreciate liver as a child but love it now. It’s really delicious when prepared correctly.
