This makes a delicious small roast with an Asian flair. Start it well ahead of roasting—even the night before—to let the meat absorb the flavors.
Combine all the ingredients except the pork and oil in a small saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves, 2 to 3 minutes. Pour the marinade into a medium bowl and allow to cool.
