This delicious cake from Verona is very similar to the Greek and Turkish cake called katayif, an obvious result of Venetian travels around the Mediterranean, when all kinds of foreign recipes and ingredients poured into the port of Venice, and from there were introduced into the cuisine of the region and then the entire country. There are many variations of pasta cake cooked all over Italy, but this is by far the nicest in my opinion.
