Milanese Carnival Cakes

Traditionally these fluffy fried cakes would be eaten during carnival time and also on 19 March Fathers Day or the Feast of the Carpenters, commemorating the most famous carpenter and one of the most well known of all parents, St Joseph. In the Bible St Joseph is described as being qualified as a carpenter and cook of fried food; in fact, carpenters of his era apparently often ‘moonlighted’ in this way. It would appear that in Lombardy the master carpenters
