Valtellina is a valley in the Italian Alps not far from Milan. It is famous for bresaola, the thinly sliced air-dried beef which is served as an antipasto, pizzoccheri, the only buckwheat pasta made in Italy and Bitto, a delicious local cheese. Taleggio is a neighbouring valley, where the famous cheese of the same name comes from.
