The enthusiasm of Robertino, a very cheerful farmer I met with his family near Modena, is still vividly in my mind. He had such a passion for eating his food that I believe he became a farmer just to ensure that he would be at the source of it. Everything produced on this farm was excellent, including the Nocino for which he is famous.

Tigelle are small double-raised and baked breads vaguely resembling pittas. They ar
