Potato and Beef Croquettes

Korokke may have its origin in French croquettes. Many such Western preparations, which were introduced at the turn of the twentieth century, have been modified for the Japanese kitchen and Japanese tastes and are now deeply rooted in Japanese cuisine.

Japanese croquettes are made from mashed potato, ground beef, and onion. The mixture is shaped into patties and then cooked crisp with a coating of panko breadcrumbs.
