Frozen vodka is the best way to get a party off the ground quickly, but some may balk at unadulterated raw alcohol even if it is the deliciously smooth buffalo grass (Zubrovka) version. On the other hand, few could resist these Bloody Mary (or Virgin Mary) shooters presented in a huge punch bowl filled with crushed ice.

Use chilled, 2-ounce shot glasses, counting on at least two per person, and choose cooked crab, lobster, prawn, mussels, or a combination, or the smallest possible raw oysters, such as Olympias. If using other seafood, you will need ½ teaspoon per shot glass.

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh garlic
  • cups chilled Bloody Mary
  • 12 fresh iced Olympia oysters, shucked

Mix the lemon zest, parsley, and garlic together.

Put a teaspoon of the Bloody Mary in each of the glasses (so that the seafood will not stick to the bottom of the glass) and then the oysters.

Fill almost to the brim with the rest of the Bloody Mary, and sprinkle with the lemon-parsley mix.
