Crisp breadsticks are eaten throughout the Middle East by all religions. They are mentioned in both the talmud and in medieval Arab texts. It is possible that the Sephardic Spanish Jews helped to spread them throughout Europe. Though more traditionally made in bracelet-like circles, they look fetching served like this, in long crisp fingers.
