“Pizza” is the Italian pronunciation for the word pitta, which was how the ancient Greeks used to refer to flat bread from Turkey and Iran. The Italians used the terms pizza as early as the 10th century (though not for a dish with tomatoes, which did not arrive from the New World until much later). The topping combination I have here of olives, walnuts, and pomegranates, popular around the Caspian, goes back at least 3,000 years.
