Trim the meat and cut in bite-sized pieces. Roll the meat in seasoned flour. Melt the butter in a frying pan, add the meat and fry gently to brown all over. Transfer meat to a flameproof casserole. Add the water to the frying pan, stir and scrape to pick up coagulated pan juices and bring to the boil. Pour the liquid over the beef.
Peel and finely chop the onion and add to the casserole
