  • 8 oz (225 g) self-raising flour
  • ½ level teaspoon salt

Method

Sift the flour and salt on to a plate. Cream the butter in a mixing bowl until soft and light. Add the sugar and mix together well. Break up the egg with a fork and beat into the mixture a little at a time. Add half the sifted flour and mix to a soft paste, then add the remaining flour and mix to a soft dough. Divide the dough in half.
