  • 6 oz (175 g) plain flour
  • 3 level teaspoons baking powder

Method

Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a medium-sized mixing bowl. Stir in the sugar. Make a well in the centre and crack in the eggs and about half the milk. Gradually draw the flour into the liquid by stirring all the time with a wooden spoon until all the flour has been incorporated, then beat well to make a smooth batter.
