Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) ripe strawberries
  • 1–2 tablespoons castor sugar

Method

Hull the strawberries and slice them into a punch bowl. Add the sugar, brandy (which draws out the aroma of the fruits) and 1 bottle of hock or moselle. Leave to marinate for at least 1 hour. Chill the remaining wine thoroughly.

Just before serving, add the remaining wine and the bottle of sparkling wine or champagne. This makes a lovely drink at a summer garden party.
