There is no pastry included here; the topping is made up purely of a chunky apple sauce and sliced apples arranged like an apple tart. The apple sauce recipe is given below, but using a quality bought product would make this recipe one of the easiest in the book.

Ingredients

  • 7-8 Cox’s apples
  • 25 g (1 oz) caster sugar
  • ju

Method

  • Peel, core and roughly chop four of the apples and put into a saucepan. Add half the caster sugar, the lemon juice and 3 tablespoons water, cover with a lid and cook over a medium to low heat for 10-15 minutes until tender, stirring from time to time. The topping can be left very chunky or lightly whisked until smoother. Cover and keep warm.
  • Preheat the grill. Brush
