This sauce is very similar to tartare sauce, with the addition of anchovies and herbs. It can be mixed with grated or shredded celeriac for the classic vegetable dish or used to bind home-made coleslaw.


  • 300 ml (10 fl oz) mayonnaise
  • 1 heaped tablespoon finely chopped gherkins


  • Mix all of the ingredients together by hand or blitz in a small food processsor.
