Brovada is certainly an acquired taste, but any book of the cuisine of Friuli-Venezia Giulia that does not have a recipe for it would be incomplete. I should note that there are many people who genuinely like the taste of brovada, so do not knock it until you have tried it. Pickled turnips were described by Apicius in his manuals of gastronomy, and it is known that a food of this type was enjoyed in ancient Aquileia.
