Although this is a very basic recipe, it results in a marvelous dessert that I have served with great success to conclude fancy dinners. At its heart it is a simple preparation made with basic ingredients. It is not a pudding in the American sense, which would have cream and cornstarch. Rather, its name derives more from the British sense of the word to suggest what Americans call dessert. This version, typical of northern Friuli, uses pears. They use special pudding molds to make this dish
