This is an adaptation of versions of this cake that were served to me by families all over the hinter-land above Trieste. It is delicious, homey, and easy to make.
Preheat the oven to 300°F/150°C. Butter or oil a 7-inch/17- to 18-cm tube pan.
Separate the eggs, putting the yolks in a large mixing bowl and the whites in a smaller chilled bowl. Beat the yolks just until they are broken and combined. Use a whisk and gradually add the flour a
