  • About

A delicious taste of my childhood and a dish that I still turn too when I am feeling a bit down in the dumps. Our Amah used to make this for me when Mum and Dad were out for dinner and I should have been in bed. It’s not a recipe as such but it’s very important that I include it in the book as it’s one of my earliest taste memories.

Ingredients

  • Bowl of cold cooked rice
  • Cold milk
  • Sugar, to taste

Method

  1. Pour the milk over the rice.
  2. Sprinkle sugar over to taste and mix it into the rice and milk.
  3. Eat whilst watching the colourful lions and dragons, their plimsolled feet showing beneath ornate fringes and tassels, dancing around the throngs of happy revellers.
