Fry peppers in a pan, adding turmeric to the oil. Bring salted water to the boil in a pot. Add maize meal while stirring until the mixture is thick and smooth, breaking any lumps as you stir. Add the peppers and butter, and combine well. Season with salt, then cook on a medium heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
