  • Oil, for frying
  • 1 onion, chopped

Method

Rinse trotters thoroughly under clean, running water. Pat with a cloth or paper towel to dry. Heat oil in a saucepan and fry onion in the spices. Add trotters and, over medium heat, fry for 10 minutes to seal meat. Add 4 cups of water, tomatoes and the beef stock cube. Season to taste with salt and pep
