Bialys

Growing up in New Jersey made me crazy for bagels at a young age. We would ride bikes to Sonny’s Bagels on South Orange Avenue and spend fifteen cents for the most wonderful warm, fresh, chewy bagels. Sonny’s is still there, and I take my kids there when we visit Grammy. Nowadays I order a bialy, which is basically a Polish bagel that’s baked, not boiled. Sonny’s makes the best onion bialy.
