This dish is all about the tuna sauce, which we call salsa tonnato. You can buy it in jars in the supermarket in Italy, but of course it’s better if you make it yourself. This is a very summery dish, great for picnics. It’s easy to double the quantities to serve a crowd and any leftovers are delicious the next day as a panino (bread roll) filling – I love a panino with salsa tonnato and mortadella.
