Hominy is one of my dad’s favorite sides. But unfortunately, it’s another one of those love-hate foods. So just what is hominy? The simple answer is it’s corn—corn that is soaked in a lye solution and washed, with the outer hull breaking off and leavin’ only a plumped corn kernel.
