Cornmeal Hoecakes

Hoecakes have a long tradition in the South. They get their name because they were literally cooked on the blade of a hoe over an open fire. Hoecakes are made from a very simple batter. In keepin’ with the tradition of hoecakes, I’ve given y’all a traditional recipe. There’s lots of ways y’all can put your own twists on hoecakes, such as addin’ herbs, onions, bacon, or cheese.
