Poppy’s Seafood Gumbo

Now, I don’t claim to know Marie Laveau’s gumbo recipe. But when you’re ready to make an offering to her, you can just use mine. I did beat Bobby Flay in a “throwdown” with this gumbo, and on CBS Sunday Morning, it made jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis implore, “Have mercy, Poppy!” Whether or not this is the original, Marie Laveau just might be satisfied with a big bowl of this.
