This sandwich will steal your heart. Never again will you feel the need to go out to some corner shop to get a good, hot Italian sub. Once you have a solid base of marinara sauce, the sandwich basically builds itself.

As you can see from the list below, the options are pretty endless when it comes to toppings. Sometimes I like a simple variation that I call The Margherita Sandwich, which is just sauce and fresh mozzarella, finished with fresh basil. But you can go crazy with your own version.

For an appetizer option, make a full loaf and chop it into sticks.
