Red cabbage cooked in this way is both good to eat and most convenient, because it will keep warm without deteriorating in the slightest.
Heat the oil and cook the chopped onions till they are soft and just beginning to turn golden at the edges. Add the cabbage and apples and the juniper berries.
Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes. Then stir in the seasonings, sugar and vinegar.
