This sauce is delicious with vanilla ice cream and also with pears. And you can see how simple it is!
This recipe was my grandmother’s cook’s (Mrs Day’s) recipe.
Put the butter, sugar and cream together in a saucepan; heat gently, stirring, until the butter is melted and the sugar completely dissolved. Then boil gently over a steady heat, for a good 5 minutes. This sauce keeps well in a screw-top jar in the fridge for several days.
