Mrs Hill’s Christmas Pudding

This recipe is unique because it contains no flour or breadcrumbs whatever, and I have never seen another recipe for Christmas pudding which contains neither. Mrs Hill was the wife of the vicar in my home village of Tunstall, in Lancashire, many, many years ago. We have made it every Christmas since she gave my mother the recipe. This amount makes one large pudding, or two smaller ones.
