The famous dish of baked beans made in Boston since the colonial days is one of the greatest culinary creations in the world as far as I am concerned. This sweet dish can be considered the prototype of “baked beans,” be they baked the New England colonial way or any other way which consists of precooking the beans in water, then baking them with additional seasonings.
This is a main course in itself and must be served with a crisp green salad, preferably with a low-calorie dressing.
