California Garden Sweets

I prepare these figs each year with the almonds, figs, fennel, and lavender growing in my garden. They are best prepared at the end of the year when the large dried Mission figs arrive from California for the holiday baking. These will easily replace a chocolate candy. Do not make the almond paste too liquid as it will render the stuffing of the figs difficult. If you don’t have a food processor you can use a 7-ounce bar of Odensee almond paste, to be found in any supermarket.
