We’ve been to the Hunza Valley only once, almost twenty years ago, but we’ll never forget it. High up in the Karakoram Mountains in northern Pakistan, the valley is surrounded by rocky peaks, some of the highest mountain peaks in the world (see photograph), but the valley itself sits somewhat low and in June, when we were there, it’s almost lush, albeit in a dry-air sort of way.
