One finds pa amb oli everywhere in Catalonia, as a tapa in bars and restaurants, in homes, and eaten by children. Pa amb oli and pa amb tomàquet are made using slices of bakery-fresh bread held on the end of a long fork over a fire. Then the bread is coated with olive oil and a sprinkle of sugar, or it is brushed with oil and rubbed with garlic. Or, for pa amb tomàquet, a very ripe tomato may be cut in half, the seeds and excess liquid squeezed out, then the slic
