I have created a really quick version of the tasty snack from that underground high street in Shenyang. Sesame seeds and flour form the base of a batter to coat the bananas, and it’s flavoured with warming ground cloves and chilli powder. The flavour of the spices lingers when the bananas are cooked, and it’s somehow exaggerated by the runny honey drizzled over before serving. This is express cooking at its best.
