    • 4 new potatoes, or other small waxy potatoes, scrubbed
    • 8 small carrots, scrubbed or peeled
    • bunch of spring

    Method

    Steam or boil the potatoes and carrots until tender. Trim the onions down to the bulbs, using the green for another dish, a salad perhaps. Wipe and slice the mushrooms, which could be plain cultivated button mushrooms, oyster, shiitake, or wild mushrooms.
