In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Let the butter simmer gently, making sure it never boils, for 15 to 20 minutes, or until it melts and the fats are separated from the solids. With a small ladle or spoon, skim the white foam that floats to the top, until it is completely removed. The clarified butter is ready when no more foam floats to the top and you can see the milk
