By far this is my easiest and most favorite way to cook lentils. Deeply flavored with dried mushrooms and garlic, these earthy legumes will turn a bowlful of grains, a slice of bread, or a dish of pasta into a complete meal.

My shortcut does away with the conventional step of presoaking the mushrooms without compromising their intense flavor.
