  • 1 kg (2 lb 4 oz) sugar
  • 1 litre (35 fl oz/4 cups) water


Put both the sugar and water in a saucepan over a high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring to ensure the sugar has completely dissolved. Cool, transfer to a container with a lid and keep refrigerated.
