If you are from El Paso, these are called francesitos. I’m guessing the name came from pan francés (French bread), but because they are smaller than a full-size loaf, they were dubbed francesitos. Some people think that’s funny because francesitos literally translates to “little French men.”

These rolls are lightly crunchy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. They can be served as is or split lengthwise to make tortas (sandwiches) or mollet
