Oh, how I used to love this alphabet soup as a kid, and now my kids love it too. Although it is a perfect choice for a child’s birthday party, it is also a great everyday comfort food—economical, delicious, and easy to make.
In a blender, combine the onion, tomatoes, garlic, bouillon, pepper, and 1 cup (250 ml) of the water and purée until smooth.
In a Dutch oven over medium heat, warm the oil. Add the alphabet pasta and heat, stirring, until lightly toasted, 1–2 minutes. Add the puréed mixture, stir well, and cook, stirring, until the mixture thickens and darkens, about 5 minutes.
