I loved the vegetable soup my mother made for me when I was under the weather. It was a broth of meat and vegetables, with onions, ginger, garlic, turmeric, cloves, and peppercorns for their taste and healing properties. Sometimes there would be barley, sometimes steamed basmati rice. Lamb riblets are ideal for this soup, though chicken and turkey work well, too.
